Garrett is a super talented singer/songwriter from here in Atlanta. We did a quick shoot last year, but as usual, as I was going through some old pics, I just wanted to try something different.
If you ever get the chance to see Garrett live, go do it! He's got a great soulful voice. Check him out on myspace or facebook. It'll be worth your time.
Wow...am I really this behind on blogging.
Back in September I got to fly back out to my old musical stomping grounds (Fayetteville, AR) to spend some time with some of my best friends from the band days, to shoot promo shots for their new band/ep. You might remember the "water in yo face" post from a while back, but I did want to share some of the other hilarious shots from the weekend. Plus, while we were there I did some photos for Dave Wilson too. He's a producer/engineer living in Nashville, but was our horn player back in the day, so it's basically like a huge fraternity getting back together to make music and have a blast the entire time. Dave is building his business and needed a couple shots for his website.
I can't wait for everyone to hear the tunes that they recorded for Boom! Kinetic and for Zach Gump (one of the singer's from BK is also doing a solo project), but here are a couple of my favorite images from the weekend.
A blog world friend of my Aaron Ivey posted a cool blog with lyrics from a song he wrote. It was great to see music in type because the poetry really comes accross. Some of you know that I write songs from time to time, and have even probably listened to a couple on my random postings through the site, but I thought I would write down some lyrics that are from one of my newer songs....
It's this air I breathe
But I don't even say thanks
Or it's her lips you made
For only my lips to taste
It's this cold outside
That lets me know I'm alive
Or it's this starry night
and my sweet baby's cry
Pre-Chorus:
For there is hope in all of this I think
Where bright light shines through everything
Chorus:
For this is good
Where I am
It's why I was made
To be here where I stand
Right here with you
under painted sky
My dreams aren't this good
This is why, I'm alive
It's these leaves that fall
Bright orange like your sun
Or it's the smell of her neck
Where my kiss comes to rest
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
The End :)
Anyway, I've just been reminded so MUCH lately of God's involvement in my life's entirety. Not just the big things that I'd typically lean on, but every facet of my life...easy, hard, fun, sad, simple, difficult, real...He is there, and more than that, He wants me to know Him in all of those moments and to lean on Him in them. Easier said than done...especially in the simple times where things flow in the direction my life is pointed. It's so much easier to lean on God in the hard times, but I'm seeing more and more that God will truly bless me if I take notice and praise Him in the everyday.
It's 2008 and I'm ringing in the new year with some new "Jamz" courtesy of the numerous iTunes gift cards I received over the holidays. There are a bunch of CDs that I really want to get my hands on, but this band I finally discovered has my ears, and possibly my heart. ;)
AS TALL AS LIONS
If you're in the mood for a great Rock band, with an unbelievable lead singer...check these guys out. I think they may have been around a while, but I'm just thankful I finally found them. One thing I love about these guys is that they're so good dynamically, making the songs swell and move you, as opposed to having a constant sound that gives you one constant emotion through a song...these guys do a great job of pulling you into their songs and taking you for a ride.
Give 'em your ear for a few minutes on iTunes and I promise you won't be disappointed.
